SO.FINE
Just like my clothes I like to keep it simple and classic with jewellery. Layers of fine gold to make my basics pop and simple enough to keep on with something more detailed. It was my birthday yesterday so in the mood for sharing the love you can shop the beautiful Jennifer Zeuner collection at Eclektica with 25% off with the LOVESHOPSHARE code. Your welcome!
I am in the middle of some changes to the site and some reorganising which seems to be happening a lot. I guess when you are on a roll you have to go with it.

B.DAY
.
It's my birthday! I am big on birthdays and usually drag it out as long as I can. My loves call it my birthday festival and I say 'hey it happens once a year so live it up'. Following these wise words and my new mantra and wise words from the great Vivienne westwood - 'buy less, choose better' my wish list is getting covered (slowly). I have one of my go to outfits including some birthday packages on the way. I will never tire of the knit and everyone needs some coated denim. I plan to celebrate today with lunch with my family (after I get my eyebrows revamped - post to come) followed by a dinner with festivities flowing on through to Sunday… why not!

The humble trench has been a stayer on the cash scene and not going anywhere ….. ever! Burberry the cult trench and now followed by a million more in every color, material, cut and length. I am a lover of the silk trench to be worn as a layering piece and as an after 5 more dressy throw over. I have a black longer length trench (here) and its perfect. Just add heels, skinny jeans and a tee for an easy and simple style. A slip dress or lace skirt and cami paired back with a longer length coat and some slides works as does the same with an ankle boot. Treat her as the all round coat and choose a color that best works with the color palette you have in the wardrobe in a grey, black, cream or the famous camel color to keep it really burberry friendly.

MONDAY
Some Monday feelings via elle decor it, stockholm streetstyle, pinterest
Home coming along and my creative space coming together so I will eventually get some shots up soon. Interiors have always been a love of mine but I admired through pinterest and on mostly swedish design blog and never fancied myself as a decorator. I guess thats the beauty in it as well as fashion that you take what you love and make it your own. We built a beach house last year and to be honest it did my head in a little with all of the choices and big calls I had to make on the whole build. We are getting around to decor at the moment with final touches being put on hold as I decided to work on our home in Melbourne. This project is a reno and I know exactly what I want and where I am going and the best part its my space to decorate and style just the way I want which is a bit like my fashion - simple, classic and scandinavian esq with black, white and grey the main players. More to come.
Its Nick's birthday tomorrow so thinking of him I added his mantra and quote he has lived by from the start of his football career 'focus on what you can control'. Don't worry about anyone else as you can't control them and it takes time and energy away from yourself being your best. Just do your thing and do it well.

Lace is speaking to me lately and I am searching for the perfect lace top to layer with, use as my 'going out' alternative to a tshirt and to soften an all black look. I love the contrast between lace and leather and the little bit of boho that Miss Marant brings to any outfit she is involved in. I am not a girly girl in my style but I love that I can rework a piece with my style to change the way I look at it. Good girl gone bad. Its actually my bday in a few weeks and you can bet that a few of these are on my wish list ( the shoes at the top).
If you don't have a pair of waxed denim you need some whether they be the perfection that is Paige denim or a high street alternative from Zara which dare I say are the best and most flattering pants I own. A cheaper alternative to leather if you don't take the plunge and they hold their own in the fashion stakes.

Straight hair for me was never really an option in the past with the mane resembling nothing like 'get the look'from my fave designer show. It has been through a bit from over bleaching years ago to pregnancy totally bullshitting me and causing breakage and all round dull hair. My main girl Angie aka Boda Haircutters saint is bringing her back to health slowly and on the way to getting me some shiny hair. Messy waves my usual go to and when Halo came my way I wanted to give her a whirl with some low heat straightening to get a bit of body and making it look slightly thicker. Just add some texture spray and powder puff and you are good to go.
I promise I am almost finished the reno upstairs (for those of you who follow me on insta) and I am making some changes here also. I have found a love for photography over the LSS journey so just need to add some fresh faces and some hot threads and we will be in business. Setting goals and dreams and trying to teach my inner procrastinator to get off her ass and chase them. Lets do this!

I have decided that this be the Monday that doesn't seem to come. The one that you say on Sunday ok new week tomorrow and I am doing it…. whatever it may be for you. I am taking some notes from Vivienne and rethinking EVERYTHING 'buy less, choose well. Make it last.Quality not quantity' . I do believe in cheap thrills and love a good high street and designer mix but I have been buying way too many clothes of late and my investment buys keep getting delayed. Buy the brands and pieces that you love and make you feel great. Buying fakes from the net is so easy these days just as it is to buy followers and likes on social media but its ok not to be dripping in designer if it doesn't fit for you. Thats the beauty of boutique brands and again find quality and get 1 thing rather than 6. The things on my list and I see as investments are:
A clutch
The perfect pair of skinny jeans
Cashmere/blend knitwear
High heel sandal
Blazer / jacket
Great quality basics
More on this soon. Cheers to a new week and thinking things over.

The boyfriend jean. Perfectly paired back with a tee and a blazer, a knit or a soft trench layered with a cami. Heels make everything look better and a black pump or black sandal are my go to styles. Depending on your shape and how you like your denim you will know which of the styles you like best for you. Mine all have rips of some sort even if it be just a knee slash but the beauty of this is you find the wash and cut you like and then you can *DIY the rips. Total personalisation. Target sent me in store to check out all the fab pieces ahead of winter and I tell you this was just the start. On my last haul I headed to the mens dept and stocked up on the perfect white long sleeve tee's and the softest bamboo cotton blend shirts which I have worn to death. This time I sussed my favourite item in my wardrobe (aside from jeans) - the knit. Both came in a navy which would be perfect with blue denim and white shirts layered up and a camel or grey trench. Forever the lover of a point pump I couldn't help myself with these hot bow heels. There were also a leopard pair that were next on the list. All pieces in store and online now so get onto it.
FYI I got the grey cardi in a size 16 to get the super sized look the you would have seen on my insta and the camel knit an XL so it wasn't as fitted.

Ever the lover of black and gold and starting to really step up my love for a pretty picture (more to come) the option to pimp my camera bag had to be done. The gold chain strap - love at first click. Made for a SLR camera (which I snapped with) the padded inner makes it perfect for anything you need kept protected. This new Olympus OM-D EM5 from Dick Smith was added when I needed a great snap and couldn't take the SLR. I have the standard lens on it as the prime lens is on its way this week. Perfect for travelling and at events.
I am getting together the wardrobe rules and will have some checklists for you as I have found my voids in my own closet. Winter is here and a girl needs to be prepared right?

Moving into winter and having a massive wardrobe clean out (more news on our exciting sale soon) I have had a good look through and now building and filling in the gaps. I live by the high and low rule (designer and affordable fashion) as they both seem to work well with each other keeping everything even. I have come to the conclusion that I need to introduce some more dressy separates and a few blush and camel tones. I will do a full wardrobe wrap up and the must have pieces to build around.
Another void I needed to fill was my love of rose gold. Just like its brighter sister, rose gold works so well with black and brings a softer feel to the mix especially with a tan but for me thats always a good idea (faux of course). Thomas Sabo came to the rescue with this mens black face beauty. In celebration for the launch of the brand new store at the emporium I had to show you my favourite piece. Just add a hand full of rose coloured fine jewellery and I am done.

I have been searching for a denim jacket that was the right color, longer length and a boyfriend fit and I have filled the void for now but I feel this one coming on, testing the waters first. Usually the search for the boyfriend fit means logically I go straight to the source and shop where a boyfriend shops but Lee had the ladies covered this time with this fit. I was a bit weary of the old 90's revival and jumping on board the signature piece from the golden era of denim but I am pretty happy I did.

Making a few decisions on my next investment piece and I have noted they are all black related but I can't help it, black never goes out. I am thinking a nude coloured clutch would be smart also but we will see. A black pump is an absolute essential will a high enough heel to be sexy but not so high that you don't ever wear them (I am talking to you pigalle 120). With bows not usually on my agenda I will sway for Marant with her Poppy sandals making the choice easy to go the bow. Decisions.
In other news I am almost finished my reno upstairs and a bit of a revamp of where I am at on my journey. Closet cull, new space, bedroom reno and a new camera and lens has me set for the next chapter. More of the same of what I hope you love about LSS plus more. If you haven't already had a look my 'The Street' section it is coming along and I will be adding plenty of content soon. Clearing the head and a refresh never hurts.

My all time favourite item is the knit. Love them oversized and longer in length and paired back with the skinniest of jeans and leather pants and also like to layer with a black pencil or midi flare skirt with heels. If you get your jackets big enough they are perfect to give layers under denim jackets and coats with longer tees to add another layer. Winter is here and I am excited! This time last week we were on our way to Sydney to take on MBFWA. I love Sydney when I visit and think it is such a gorgeous city with the beaches repping Australia at its best. I do realise when I leave how much I love Melbourne and her relaxed and friendly nature and suits me just fine to call her home. As a true Melbournian I proud her proud in my all black on day one with my favourite item mixed in - the grey tee (with white close behind). This blazer is an oldie but a goodie that put me off investing in a blazer for a while which I am doing soon as it ticked all the boxes and has served me well. Balmain or Balenciaga might tick them too but we will see.
Thanks to the cutest little street snapper Karen Woo for the pics and thanks to our girl Jess aka what would karl do who was tending to much bigger and better things and having a baby (no biggie) for having Karen in the mix.

CAMEO THE LABEL AT MBFWA
.
Cameo made their debut at fashion week and didn't disappoint. Structure, digital prints and neoprene in which they are becoming known for. The white lace and mesh detailing softened the heavy prints and peplum skirts. Australian Fashion Labels are kicking goals and props to the designers of Cameo creating such comprehensive ranges in which are released every 3 months. Perfect brand to show at MBFWA and hold their own in the Aussie fashion landscape. My top pick has to be the black and white floral digital print.

MBFWA the official fashion festival for Australia showcases our homegrown talent but with a lot of our top designers a no show there are a few big moments making the trip worth the while. This show was one of them. Maticevski is an unbelievable talent and brings you back to everything that fashion is meant to be and make you feel. Creating wearable pieces of art. Blown away, every time. Bravo Mr Maticevski.

Simple outfits for the last day of my fashion week and I did not break the bank with this one. We were reppin Melbounre all week with some fab and gorgeous fellow Melb girls and to bring it back I went with my bargain H&M Melbourne skirt purchase and a shirt that Nick could confuse as his own. I had a few things in some carts over the net which may be getting purchased right now so lucky I kept the funds down with this.

I have spread my photographic wings and got my second camera the Olympus OMD EM-5 thanks to my new friends at Dick Smith. I will add a 17mm 1.8 and will be set. I added this as I find sometimes I want an image as good as my DSLR with the ease of the iPhone at events or at home shooting details. Getting my MBFWA outfits sorted and last minute is the way I roll. Too late for online deliveries so I am hitting the pavement and filling in my outfit gaps. Wish I had of gotten this denim jacket but there is a whole winter to have it so best be be ordering anyway! I am so excited to see what H&M has in store for us tonight and I pray this knit and a certain lace skirt that I have been obsessed with on the US site and forever stalking on ebay to no avail. If she is not there tonight I have a backup plan. I love a detailed skirt mixed with the relaxed feel of a knit and layers.
Onto MBFWA - we just hit some cooler weather and that excites me too and we are gearing up to see what we will be lusting after for S/S , as you do. Don't you just love the fashion world. I was in Sydney on the weekend and it was a sweat fest and I forgot that Sydney loves to get her humid on so my knit lovin may be challenging. I will be snapping the goings on in Sydney with backstage goodness and all the action on the gram every day too.

Today for the first hair post for LSS I am introducing you to my hair expert and all round amazing girl Angie from Boda Haircutters in Prahan. I am one of those girls that shows pics of beautiful hair I have found on pinterest that is nothing like my own whilst saying I want it a copper brown but hate it orange and the pic is of Kim Kardashian when she was blonde, pain in a hairdressers ass. On our first 'date' Angie listened to my description of what I am thinking, with the picture probably not matching the description at all but she gets the drift and it was perfect. We are taking it slowly as its best for my recovering locks and my hair has not been this healthy for a long time. If you know exactly what you want and know what you are talking about she will do it.
A bit of background of my hair - Its been through a lot from bad dye experiences years ago to pregnancy doing a number on it and giving me hair loss and breakage not to mention a girls worst enemy, grey's! (the joys of pregnancy!). I discarded the importance of a great hairdresser and making the effort in monthly visits to the salon and not getting your friends (who are hairdressers FYI) to dye your roots at home….. until I met my hair match in Angie. You will love her. We are teaming up on some exciting projects and I will feat my hair and loved products and tips from Angie so watch this (new) hair space.
Onto the products - to start are my daily go to's for a frizz free, textured style. Angie loves her Kevin Murphy and the dry shampoo and anti-gravity spray have been winners for me. You spray the Anti-Gravity into wet hair and it allows the hair to be moulded into the undone/bedhair kind of look. Spray the dry shampoo into roots when hair is freshly washed to add the best volume and makes the hair looked like you have had a blow dry at Boda when you haven't. Powederpuff is one of the best products to add grit and lift the roots. Heaps of brands have this wonder powder and its a must have.

Its time in Melbourne to get out the real fashion (as far as I am concerned) where black, leather, knits and layers help step up the fashion stakes. This is what I love about being a Melbourne girl that we have a transition in season and the true Melbourne style comes out and shows why we are the fashion capital.
So onto the pants - if you are going to go faux why not with Saint Laurent? Not is the offshore, mass produce kinda way but you get the amazing fit and style from the house of Laurent with out the 'in the k' price tag. I love a tough/rock chick look of a leader pant mixed in with some contrasting softness. In this case pastels, super soft knits and dainty heels with bows. This all pulled while I shop and plan my outfits for MBFWA in Sydney….. the process!

I must get something red or something pink……to pair with grey, white or black. The two pop colours on the runway that I realised I want to own. I won't get carried away as I am a little allergic to color but when getting dressed this week EVERYTHING I own has black involved. This is ok however Its time to inject a tiny bit of pop.
Elle presented this amazing show and I loved it. LoSordo the hero of the festival and dressing the beautiful (inside and out) Nicole Warne and sending down the most divine pink coat and dress combo and also impeccable bustier dress. Bianca Spender was all kinds of wonderful as well with cut outs and a bit of bling. Best part about VAMFF is you see what you have missed out on and you can go and get it, so thats what I am off to do!
Loreal nailed the hair with shiny soft waves that I loved. The girls hair all looked so healthy and with the help of showpony the length was under control. More of this soon - watch this space - Boda x LSS
