DION LEE FOR TARGET

[twocol_one]dl8[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]Who doesn't love a good Collaboration? This one is about to bring one of Australia's best to everyone. Dion Lee joined forces with Target to create a collection with signature prints that you know Dion for and plenty of sports luxe to filter through the wardrobe. Think a slightly simplified  version of the brand you love but you will absolutely know that its a sister from the same mister.

Accessories are always a good option and you can never have too many so if you are deciding what to get I know that the tote and this neoprene bucket/backpack bag will find its way into your cart. The signature cut out detail blazer is in there as is this main line esq crop that can set you up to layer until your hearts content.

Like all good things there will be fierce competition to grab the loot which kicks off at 8pm tonight but lets be honest if something is wanted or even worse sold out it MUST come home with you. Second chances can be had in store from Thursday and if you miss something tonight take note and get in fast.

Do I have to mention the neoprene mules? It's good. Shop well and we will compare purchases later.

Bravo to the powerhouse that is Target Australia and the people manning the collaboration situation will hold us in good stead in the future too. We have shopped and loved some Stella McCartney, Missoni and now Dion allowing designers reach a broader audience with more credit friendly price points but with the same quality the brands deserve. The cap is $25.... you feel me?

On sale tonight at 8pm online and selected stores nationally on Thursday.[/twocol_one_last]

[twocol_one]Nina Israelsson[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]Mondays are for Interiors and I have to admit my desktop and folders within resemble a Pinterest board (and with this I make a note to myself that I need to get back into my Pinterest habbots). This space styled to perfection by one of the best - Tina Hellberg (via Agent Bauer)  makes me have concrete floors and subway tiles locked down for the house hunt or for now the new studio space that I move into this week. Just in case I didn't have enough of this recent move and the intending next one I go and decide to move just one more time! Sucker for punishment? It will be worth it especially if it can have a slight resemblance to this decor. I have the poster..... and the Converse.

With this new space I have decided I am down for some neon lighting in font and just have to decide on what it is I want said on the wall with 1-3 letters. I also need to shop for plants and then the real challenge lies in keeping them alive. Yes I have two babies and I find keeping plants alive somewhat challenging, go figure. I also need to make some rug investments and have a cow hide at the top of the list along with some more pom pom rugs (here) and get a bit of eclectic flavour around the warehouse. Posters galore and I will be starting at Society 6 and blacklist studios and making friends with either a Melbourne picture framer or the sales assistant at Ikea with the latter being a high possibility. Lets see how this unfolds.  [/twocol_one_last]

FARFETCH

SANDALS Chloe  | CROSS BODY BAG Valentino |CLUTCH McQueen | SHOULDER BAG Givenchy

"Stop trying to make fetch happen" - Mean Girls catch phrase never go astray. Well its happening and in its final hours you need to make it happen too. While scanning the net to spend my birthday cash I jumped on Farfetch like I always do and thought I may as well make use of the extra discount from sale, it would be rude not too right? I was in the market for some new kicks and settled on these quite fabulous Chloe beauties (while a few more waiting in the cart). Sometimes sales annoy me in that I am always to late behind serious lightning fast shoppers whom are most likely the same assasin's that sell out Mansur Garvriel's stock within minutes of it being open for business. The other issue is that nothing I have been lusting after ever goes on sale. I can report back to you all there are some serious designer sale moments waiting to be had and if there was an opportunity to add something new wether it be a first, the hundredth , whatever I say treat yo self.

I only got to a few shoes and through a few pages of bags and I shall browse the apparel tonight.

Happy hunting!

MY BLACK AND WHITE LIFE

desk5

[threecol_two]desk[/threecol_two] [threecol_one_last]Signiture style is a tough thing to lock down. There is so much influence and so many choices in brands, trends and the daily feeds of blogs and Instagram that you think you are a monochrome lover and then Maticevski pops up with the most fabulous bright orange frock you have ever see and all of a sudden you are lost. Do we need to have a signature style? No but knowing who you are, what makes you feel good and when scrolling through web pages and the daily dose of Net-A-porter it does help to narrow down what you are looking for.

As much as trends are a dirty word we can't help but take note and wether you like it or not we are dictated by the choices to flare, stack up a heel or dare to bare the midriff as once something hits it hits everywhere with almost everyone. If you have a rough idea if you are Rizzo or Sandy you can spend you time and money on building your wardrobe and style on your own terms and filter where you see the goodness. The sight of bright florals make me slightly uneasy and my line up of 'recently viewed' display such haste in the land of vibrancy. Black, white, grey and denim are my staples with camel and khaki getting past the goalies as my 'trend' pieces. I know leather, denim and shirts will be by my side for life and my Stan Smiths and Cons are not my attempt at Sport Lux but my religion. This being said once you can see clearly a style with emerge in the way you dress your home, the way you like your hair and even the way you dress your kids/fur babies/lover. I like to think it blocks the noise a little and you can concentrate on what makes you good and rock you the best you can.    [/threecol_one_last]

As we are talking home (well fashion is life and you need a home so its all relevant) I am addicted to white and the dreams of NYC lofts filled with concrete, black framed windows and a sense of fabulously placed mess or the natural light filled Scandi havens filled with white wood floors, black and white art with spaces straight out of the IKEA Catalogue. Here I will note there is nothing wrong with Ikea. I was told that up and coming designers and brilliant stylers of Sweden get there leg up but having there deigns in IKEA (set it straight if there are any Scandi sisters reading). I know that when I see something I like I ask if it comes in black or if I am being crazy copper or gold and can be sure it will work with the palette I have at home or on the inspo board for the dream house I have not met yet.

I will leave you with the tip to buy the Kate Moss book (which arrived to me today) as if there is one chick on the planet that knows how to rock what she got its her and a print by artist Ruben Ireland found at poster heaven Society 6 or with the team at Norsu. This print had me at hello.

FASHION TRAVEL BUG

london

[threecol_one]Yes we all like to travel , well I guess that everyone would take it if they could as I most certainly will. Travelling to new places makes me so inspired and I am big on getting out and around to lift life. Is this often achievable ?- no. Isn't it great that we can escape right here on our computers when thats not possible? Its a small consolation prize for the real thing and could quite possibly make your yearning grow stronger for shores past your own. Same goes for fashion. [/threecol_one] [threecol_one]We purchase brands overseas and try and uncover new and exciting labels and looks. Follow international trends and stalk what is happening on the streets of our most coveted destinations. If there is a brand and destination that I am loving the most its always ACNE/STOCKHOLM. I get my Scandi fix through my oversized mohair knits and boots and need to be sure to make a trip to wear them where they are made famous.  [/threecol_one] [threecol_one_last]On the topic of knits there are never too many and I do not mind the Asos special mixed in with the International lover (HOPE knitwear another classic)  as long as it fills a spot that makes it a repeat offender in the outfit stakes. My style is to have them longer and bigger and the cropped variety cheats you from being comfy-cool. Take advantage of relaxed chic if you can. Just add some Stan Smiths and you are Euro ready. [/threecol_one_last]

[twocol_one]h5[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]h1[/twocol_one_last]

[twocol_one]h[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]I am between houses as you know and the usual pressure I put on to have a house from a magazine (or pinterest) is about to have the anti upped. Almost ready for the buy and then comes full force inspo boards, planning and actually being able to lock down where I sit in the style stakes. I can safely say that if I were to have anything it would be a warehouse/loft preferably in NYC but for now we keep it home grown for reality sake. Since we are coast side rather than inner suburbs its pretty unlikely that such a situation will come forth so I will plan to build a house pretending it has these fabulous urban qualities. I of course have to mention (in case you haven't noticed) that Scandinavian styling in all of its monochrome goodness with a touch of heritage/edwardian also filters through. So plenty of concrete is on the agenda, brick work, white errything and amazing wood and marble details. I wonder how far someone that knows what they want and sourced images can take you or do you call in the professionals? - Inner control freak screaming the answer. I guess bloggers are stylists and if you can do your own makeup and you are a sucker for some product you are a beauty expert right? so fake it til you make it!

For now I will keep dreaming and Inspo boards on my office wall or Mac screen is as far as we are at with actual decisions. I will leave you with what I am shopping for while I wish I was in these homes and deck out the office/studio to resemble such spaces. All in good time.

THE EASY STYLE

newloook

KNIT Maison Margiela 1 | JEANS Nobody | FRAGRANCE Chanel | CROP Nike | TRAINERS New Balance (or these lust haves) | BAG Mansur Gavriel (miss hard to get.... makes me want it so bad)

[twocol_one]If there was something that everyone needs in their wardrobe it is sneakers, yes plural. One for doing what we used to only wear sneakers for which is work out and the days before Instagram they were probably very well worn and maybe not the hottest, newest pair of Nikes. Now we pair them with jeans in a way that leaves Jerry Seinfeld patting himself on the back and get props for starting a trend...almost, minus the stone washed denim. The second need are the casual sneakers that if the 90's and Jerry are all too much for you the grunge and more recently favourited 'Normcore' trend we tone down our denim, blazers, coats and even skirts with a pair of Cons or my go-to Adidas x Stan Smith's. This of course like every thing I own opens the options to styles, brands and alternative shades of grey, white, black and the occasional pop of metallic.

Which ones do you choose? New Balance come in with a bit of a sport flava crossed with street so a nice middle ground with the ripped denim. When they teamed up with Bergdorf's and flashed up on the streets stars like Camille, Tamu and Blair they hit serious fashion credibility. [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last] Adidas are probably my favourites in the casual-I-am -not-going-to-the-gym-in-jeans look. They have some ace collaborations inc my favourites Stan Smith but not to dismiss the originals either (that I wait patiently for from UO). Converse come in close here also as they both offer plenty of styles, color ways and fits. Girl loves options!

I am one for Investments and buying less and choosing better so if you are in for some serious laid back shoe cred you can make your way over to designer sneaker section. Marant as we all know paved the way with her wedge sneakers and by doing so sparked plenty of 'Inspired' styles on the high street (which she fairly shuns). I personally never bought in just because I think wedges in general are the worst shoes in existence (actually on par with those rubber platform sandal things) and I am more of a traditional girl so when she released these I was lusting. At least with this purchase you know that you can wear them for both a good time and a long time. [/twocol_one_last]

THE COVETED

cos11

cos13

[twocol_one]cos6[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]We are talking face. One would argue a pretty important feature ones body to keep looking its best or as I am doing making some changes to make it look better than it did. I confess to being a makeup/product junkie and when I am choosing my best performing products they are not under the natural umbrella (ella, ella). I am probably more of a Kardashian than a Kerr in my quest for being mother earth but I am vowing to be better. When I say the favourites are not natural they are also not stripping the skin off my face or anything and I eat processed baked goods and ham so who am I to judge a cosmetic. A girl wants an ace base and will do what she has to to get it right?  I am now a mineral girl on a daily basis (ok when I am not glamming - small steps) and vow to give my skin a break. I am on the hunt for 'The One' thats covers, keeps me dewy and color matches. I have started the hunt with Colorescience and I am impressed. I have only the foundation but I need the spray that goes with and a bronzer so I will get back to you on this one. A few brands are on their way to trial so watch this space.

Ok so face fixing. I have found my match with the girls at Clinicalase - remember this name and if you are in Melbourne I suggest you get yourself in there stat. I know its an investment and time poor ladies put it aside but Its changing my life. We are correcting the problems and setting me on a new skin loving path. I will give you the down low on my skin and what the fabulous, skin genius Crystal is doing for me. My skin is a serious Diva. Oversensitive, can't make up her mind if she is oily or dry and is very picky about what she likes to have on her. I went in saying my skin was dry, which was wrong and a fairly important starting point when buying products so I have had it wrong this whole time. Kind of like when you finally get fitted for a bra and they tell you that you are a size smaller and don't have the right support so your boobs are going to end up at your knees in the near future - not ideal!  [/twocol_one_last]

Our discovery was made under the Purple Light (be afraid) she does not lie and when you say you always wear sunscreen and adamant you look after your skin she will uncover everything. I am oily and my skin is dehydrated not dry (there is a difference) I have plenty of sun damage which I feel was from the days my friends and I devoted life to getting brown and comparing tan lines to see who had had the best innings in the sun..... we wore 15+ oil most of the time tho so we did protect. Sorry skin, and Crystal. So my diva skin and I have an oily T Zone and are over sensitised. I am very reactive so I have been told the mission it to rebuild from the depths of the skin to correct any wrong doings so I glow and we mood swing my skin into being more manageable. Skin peels to start and last week I had an Oxygen Facial (next level FYI. You need to have one). I am onto Aspect with some Vitamin A, keeping hydrated and I have added some of that fancy Vitamin 'skin potion' to the diet as well. Getting the insides in order to glow on the outside and its the least I could do to help the process...all in right?!.

cos14

cos

My other discovery of late is the perfection of a brow. My brows are a result of over plucking and if I could tell my 18 year old self to put down the tweezers I would. Its a task to try ad rebuild that situation so I am falling back on the brow product genius  Anastasia Beverly HillsThe kit is where its at and I added the Dip Brow for more definition as well. The tweezers (that in general I have a grudge against for equipping me to get me to the point of needing such items to get a brow) they are amazing. Strays be gone in between my sessions with Jade (Kisnorbo. Makeup and Brow babe).

Other notables are the grey hair fighter - ColorWow. Gets you a week or so extra between dyes. Aren't greys a bitch? I google grey hair treatment all the time in hope someone come up with a botox equivalent to grey hair. Having kids, hormones, stress and getting old (30) whatever it is this product is the one to combat for now.

Best eyeliner as instructed by my babe Jade is by LORAC. Stays where you put it, wings and flicks like you are Katy Perry and if you have not been blessed with a stable hand its pretty foolproof. I hate when liner transfers to my lids as I mentioned the oil in my skin that I was 'blessed' with has a hand in that too but this never moves so its a winner for me.

Tanning stakes the list is big and I will need some more time but if you buy one product today let it be LeTan wash off in Deep Bronze. Instant, no smell, makes skin look flawless- all wins. Not Natural but you win some you lose some. Its worth it.

Interiors are one of those things that need a lot of decisions. I know what I like with metals in the mix with copper being the metal of the moment and the usual suspects of concrete, marble, white, white and white. In all of its Scandinavian glory the above makes me add some sort of steel goodness into our plans and I am set on a warehouse/loft flava. As we hunt for a home gone are the days that an old warehouse is around, the hidden Gem leaving us about 10 years late on having any chance of finding hidden (bargain) gems anywhere. We continue.

To test the waters in the elements I will be living with I fill my studio/space with plenty of he above. A girls gotta make sure she makes the right choice and does her research so I collect things I will take forth and decorate. I also need to pretend I live exactly as my control freak mind is envisioning and do the best I can to make my space as fab as I can. Wire baskets, Posters, Marble slabs, concrete planters, linen bed sheets or the good old white waffle and plenty of gold, copper and silver for some fancy flair. Lets break it down.

ONLINE IS WHERE ITS AT

vosn

Quick check in while I shop VOSN as I didn't want to neglect the share of my finds us far. I have more on the Brow situation but if there is one ting you get today make it a Anastasia Kit, its a game changer. Bassike is always good even when they are not on sale but you can grab some discounts on sale items with some long sleeve tees a good idea but as I did you go there to check the bargains but today like any day I shop non sale anyway .... the intention was there! Free shipping anyway.

If you have not gathered from the years we have been together that online is where I am at in life. I struggle when I have to look around for things in the actual stores and this is going to sound straight-out 'you need an intervention' I have more trouble letting cash go when I am not online.... I know right I am an online junkie. Somehow adding it to a cart and putting in codes and numbers is a hell of a lot easier to justify. Getting gifts like its christmas every day, except they are from myself! Don't worry I am really picky these days.

Last note on the Vogue front would be Nobody Denim - 25% off and free shipping with code VOGUE25. There is aways time for denim and Nobody does it like Nobody's business (sorry) seriously the cult skinny jeans with tick your boxes.

Remember - Buy less choose better but if there is a really good deal and its going to give you a cheap thrill I will excuse you today when you add that pair of jeans or another shirt into the mix.

BUILDING THE BASICS

bags

[twocol_one]In a series of shopping posts I have thought of my basics that get me through. The humble and pretty much hero piece , The Tee will get hunted down as will boyfriend jeans, black ripped knee skinnies and of course knits amoung the few. We start with an accessory that lets just say has been the star of my show since the day she came into my life - The Tote. I have the Givenchy as above but in a pebbled leather which is never to be seen again but her coated canvas cousin over here is the closest I have come too getting a less structured, stiff leather. I have yearned for the Valentino Rockstud clutch for a while now as I had found my tote perfect match for now I must throw the rockstud tote to you to think about. More of an investment but its reversible so two for one which is very savvy shopping. Double the studs and hello, its Valentino. Where I can I opt for a pebbled leather for just as I say about Sunnies and white T-shirts that I will take care with them and always seem to scratch and stain more than necessary almost as though the more you try the worse I am. The textured leathers always give a buffer.

The tote is a little more casual (even at $4k and adorned in fabulous studs) but speaking from experience it will turn into the go-to bag because of her casual nature and in my books the perfect style for denim, knits and tees. On that note I will get the options down for the best choice of T-shirts for your everyday needs and as I am sure just like me you already have a closet full but the search never ends .... hopefully until now.

Can we talk SIT-KA for a sec. Copper ladders, day beds and leather and copper detailed cushions.... yes! [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]

MR RIGHT

smith

[twocol_one]I have said it once and I will say it again that I am the ultimate consumer. If this is why I am doing what I am doing here at LSS then so be it. Give me some fancy packaging and you have me at hello much like Mr Beckham in his quite manipulating first Instagram post- a selfie, topless - had me at hello. Mind you a few images later a mere 5.8 Million people would also like to ....um be in bed with Beckham. Focus. Mr Smith ..... Hair care ticking boxes with its sexy packages but what good is a pretty picture if your Mr has nothing going on on the inside. Loves animals, Hates chemicals, Aussie and affordable so you have plenty of dosh to curb your habit of being the ultimate consumer. Win!

So I have internet again.... 2 weeks later and I am almost settled at the new place. Packing and unpacking for four people is proving interesting. I may or may not have taken some control so that things could go 'missing in the move'. On we roll with inspo ideas for the next house whenever that may be. Concrete, marble and lashings of white and black everywhere are high on the agenda. For the moment I will stick to my shopping and hunting and not that I am back online I have a few carts to tend too with these first up. Yes I need another pair.

I am coming with a skincare post that will change your skin life. I have met Crystal at Clinica-lase and we are fixing this skin of mine. I went under the dreaded purple light (ill fill you in) and we have some work to do. Skin care, inner health changes and of course treatments that I will give you the down low on. Today was an oxygen facial and some peels with some mineral makeup to road test and when I say mineral I mean the good stuff with Vogue, Instyle and Allure in with a strong yes as well. Watch this space.   [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]smith1[/twocol_one_last]

THE BEST VERSION

mim

mims5

mimss

[twocol_one]min3[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]The first post ever on LSS involving my babes and I guess my family life in general but It is Mothers Day and they are my little sidekicks and are with me every step of the way.  LSS was started when I was pregnant with Milla and leaving my day job in fashion. I got a SLR and took thousands (40k when I cleaned my library out last) of images and ironically learning on my new little bestie and my existing fur babies at every chance I could. Together with flat lays (there is a process!)and spreading the shopping love this space of mine was always my creative outlet full of fashion and lifestyle and totally separate to other aspects of my life. An escape into a glamours very well kept and put together life (when yours is sometimes none of the above) . I needed to be involved in fashion and be creative still while I was now at home with babies.I am so blessed to be a mum and I love these two little humans with everything I have but it's nice for me to have my own slightly selfish escape. Miss Independent* . It makes me better in each space when they are separated I guess and as a whole wearing many different hats makes you more competent. When you have a pretty popular husband its tough competition in the Maxwell house to be the best (kidding. I beat him easily). Behind every great man there is a great woman hey?

Being a mum is the hardest job in the world but it gives you perspective and pushes you. You have to be on your game all the time and with my escape of outfits, products, events and pretty pictures I have the chance to make a difference for at least two people in the world and give them the world to help them have the best life they can. I am better because of them (and Nick) and need to practice what I preach. Thanks to royal princess life and girls like Cinderella getting kind and thoughtful across the line is easy with the ugly (on the inside) step sisters getting a run as what not to be like. All hail Disney.[/twocol_one_last]

So today I blur the lines as we team up with our favourite British 'Wellie' brand Hunter to take it back to where I began snapping Milla and as you can see Archie only when he will listen for a second - Note: the next shot after the one with the 'talk to the hand' shot he was up and gone leaving Mim there telling her story. My boo loves her clothes and for now tells me to put on whatever I want because I am cool....I will hang onto this title as long as I can. I shop for her how I shop for myself so we are lucky I am into denim, knits, tees and Stan Smiths.

Hats off to all the Mum's in this world and make sure you take all the gifts, compliments and anything else you can today. My Mum is my hero, my lifeline. I teach my babes life just as she taught me and try to do it as well as she did.

Happy Mothers Day!

*We hung out with Kelly Rowland last night...... When I say hung out I of course mean she was on stage and I was not and she wanted to hang with us for sure! I am a total cool cat when I meet someone famous and would run around the block naked before I would ask someone for an autograph or selfie but if I was going to have a fan girl moment an (ex) member of Destiny's Child would be a chance.

SOME FLARE

JACKET Isabel Marant | GREY TEE Rag & Bone | BAG Mansur Gavriel | DENIM Frame Le Flare

The longest time since posts and probably the most crazy two weeks on record. Inspo of interiors and dreaming big of a new house seemed easy when it's in picture/imaginary form. Then reality hits and you have pack up everything you own (and the other three Maxwells) actually move it and then try and place it all back again. So much easier when I was wishing for it to happen and saving images! Its like when I got pregnant with Milla with a few weeks to go I realised I had to now get her out somehow and that it was going to just happen on its own. Reality again freaked me right out. So we still wait on the internet to be connected and I have spoken to way too many call centre reps that I like to remember. Data pack running on empty to take a moment to touch base with way too much to talk about. I am a self confessed internet junkie with Google always on stand by and when something is gone you realise how much you need it. A time to cleanse and start fresh with a very selective collection from the 9 years of , well collecting stuff with a 'you can't sit with us' attitude. With my place a bit out of sorts getting myself inspired and creating content worthy of a post on LSS and Instagram is a process but it will be worth the wait.

So what have I been thinking about? Will you dare to flare? Are you sick of them already? If its good enough for my French sisters its good enough for me so grab a leather jacket and a white tee and I am set with a look Miss Alt would ok. The FRAME Denim flare situation was fabulous and my other denim soul mates at JBRAND had me at hello. I like them high waisted (as I do all my denim) and throwing a curve ball here with the fact that I am crushing on them in black. Asos have some budget denim here that will float your boat too.

Oh and I am Still craving some Mansur Gavriel. Black and Blossom to be precise. They are restocking on May 14th - Be fast, be prepared to take what you can.

STACKED UP INFLUENCE

IT

[threecol_one]Can we talk about this table wear for a second? Marble an obsession of mine making its way to our table and in my case my desk space for the perfect place for jewellery and my good stuff. Table settings that make you want to have dinner parties or bigger desks to put more of them out. Copper/brass as its seems is 2015's metal of choice and I am down but just as much as I am with all of them. As I do in my jewellery there is no need to be on just one team. Magazines the same - get them all. I have a new obsession in Porter Magazine to go with everything that is Net-a-porter. Teaching lessons in how to create both digital and print media to set the bar for everyone else. My daily NAP emails are like a mini mag and on my flush through the inbox they do not make it to the trash. [/threecol_one] [threecol_one]The days of print media are absolutely not over and with the influx of digital content and publishers the cream still rises to the top with our bibles showing that taking the best photos, wearing amazing fashion and actually styling beyond what you wear to the coffee shop have the people at the forefront make waves. Its all about being inspired and people gravitate to content and information that can make us both want to be a part of what they are providing and in turn want to be able to provide something as good.  In our social media driven lives there is also the aspirational elements and celebrity endorsements (by celebrity I again mean someone that is doing something extra not just measured by how many followers they have ) making things that would otherwise be beige seem[/threecol_one] [threecol_one_last] gold(or copper or silver)  and it comes down to again what makes you double tap, screen shot and then eventually add to your cart. As a creative myself I obviously prefer that to an awkward pose in an alleyway of your #ootd taken in terrible lighting and god forbid unfiltered. A like effort and I when I am reading blogs and digital content I want to be taken away and much like magazines view things that not every Tom, Dick and Harry (*and their dogs) can provide. *Dogs with grams need to be given props where deserved like Toast. If you are not following Toast I suggest you do and in a surprise twist Toast can't take selfies so his dadda - The Fat jewish brightens days all over the world. THE LEATHER EXCHANGE

CASS22

[twocol_one]Leather is something that needs to be in everyones wardrobe and I know in some form it would be wether it be your chanel (boy no doubt that pops up on arms and in flat lays like they are free) or the hot little Mansur Garvielle which I may add is ridiculous to get a hold of which in turn makes it way more desirable, right? It takes form in many items that also draw a crazy part of need and obsession and calls for J-lo vibes - I used to have a little now I have a lot. Once you have some amazing leather its hard to stop. My leather vice and advice is to invest in a jacket of the leather kind when your yearning for your hit. It will be your best fashion friend. Instant edge and gets invites to places and fills dress codes even denim can't. I am the high/low girl and I have had a few LJ's in an 'affordable' (under $200) range thanks to H&M and *Bali. Of course there is pleather but we will talk about that another time.

Cost per wear is the best justification for splurging but its also basically a science that Einstein would be proud of. If you love yourself sick in it every time you wear it - thats a tick and then if you can wear it all the time - then thats a massive tick and I am telling you once you find her she will be on you like bleach is on the hair of Donatella. The first point of call is A|X Armani Exchange for this beauty, thank me later. The denim with the detailing had me at hello. I am actually a fan of A|X denim. Its skinny when it says its skinny and its soft so you can actually bend down to do up your Stan Smiths. Nice higher rise in the fits so again you can actually do things when you are wearing them - go figure. Worth the trip.

[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]

In other news - Have we all had a week full of fashion flowing through our feeds, making lists of shiny new things to buy? This was the first year since I started LSS that I was M.I.A in the Sydney fashion fest and it was all for (a few) good reasons. We were shooting this edit and we are moving house this week so fashion had to be viewed and lusted over from a far. This may have been a costly exercise and I had some time to gather content from the streets of Sydney so you can shop your little hearts out. I was not thrilled with some of it but I loved seeing denim ruling the streets and of the flare variety too. Its happening people. I have a pair on the way to test the waters to see if my booty is apposed to a flare bottom or if its going to make me look like Kimmy K after she has been stung by a million bees. I will report back.

I am in the midst of a move - after 9 or so years of being in our house I reflect that she has been quite the slashie with it starting as a bachelor pad (not for Nick as I locked him down/he locked me down when we still lived with our parents) I lived with my bestie for a few years and then I moved over to 'Stevo' street. A rose among the thorns with two of Nicks team mates living here and me being an ok housewife ( as in I got a cleaner a one point and only cooked them dinner as other meals were at the club) She then became a bit of a hostel with friends and siblings needing her to take them in over the years and now a family home that needs some TLC to bring her back. Its been an amazing. Time to roll out. The Interior Inspo turns to reality and we start the next plan. Bring it on.   [/twocol_one_last]

DESK MESS

deskss[twocol_one]deskss4[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]Sharing the secrets of having an office space pretty enough to take a photo of. The biggest tip is to actually have an office space worthy of a photo. Its very easy these days to live your reality through lenses and thus in turn share to world in our social squares. If it fits in the frame who cares whats outside that right? Well its a bit like taking average photos and relying on photoshop or a filter. Start with best and end up with the best. Even if its just a little area with a desk and thats your zone to deck out and own then do it. I decided one day that I was going to rip up the carpet in the upstairs area and take over the bedroom and now office/studio with floorboards (thanks to my brother for the cheap/free labour) and repainted the walls. I hate painting.

You have the space sorted so we decide about what the hell you are going to deck it out with. I always have fashion in mind when choosing the things on the desk. Books, Swing tags, Jewellery. I clearly like white and keeping it on the Scandi side of life in its minimal look. Just because you choose Gold vases and marble accents doesn't mean you ALWAYS have to have this style as you are allowed to mix it up with whatever you are feeling. I love photography the people that inspire me are the creatives so to keep me interested editorial shoots and fashion bibles are never far from reach. Candles are also always in sight.

Dried/dead/old flowers are actually a purposeful styling tool and I did not take them from the stinky vase downstairs to fill my perfect gold Harklo for the picture. There is something undone about a dried flower and much like how I prefer fashion I guess to be a little rough around the edges, simple with a tough vibe.  Going against the 'bloom in the handbag' image on Instagram (am I the only one who does not put wet, freshly cut flowers in my bag?) Anyway, we move /scroll on. [/twocol_one_last]

PALE BLUE INTRODUCTIONS

Untitled-1-Recovered

[twocol_one]The allergy I have against bright prints and color in general is allowing light blue to slip through as its the same color as denim so technically its within my scope. I know I need to settle down with being so out there and taking so many risks! The other point is it looks really good with black and white as shown by the queen Miss CC donning this ridiculously perfect Ellery number that cements my thoughts on buying things a size bigger but we will chat about that in a minute.

Light blue and Khaki are coming in hard this season and as much as Anna (Wintour) rejects the phrase 'trends' If like me you shop the high street at the ever reliable Zara, Topshop, ASOS etc these trends filter down from the runways to a home near you. I am in the same mind about not following the trends just because they are 'in' if you don't usually wear thigh high boots or the indeed the color blue doesn't suit you but I do think you see so much of these looks all of the street, instagram and through the pages of your fave magazines that you can't help but be persuaded into giving the Khaki blazer a whirl.[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last] We will move on next winter from that but for the mean time I say love what you love and wear whatever the hell you want to wear. Be allergic, apposed or totally in love with a style that makes you look in the mirror and think you are the shit because at the end of the day you can't please everyone but please yourself first.

LSSxBALLETTONET:STEP ONE

making33

[twocol_one]It's not everyday you design a range of shoes right? How do you it? where do you start? Well as a woman I of course love a good shoe, maybe a generalisation but I argue with all of our choices and amazement in shoes how could you not be. We all have to wear shoes right? A heel is a given in any wardrobe and the most simple styles still manage to be fabulous and sexy. When I am not in heels I am in my Cons, Nikes, Stan Smiths and on the more casual side of life. When I was approached by the team at Ballettonet to design a range of ballet flats I of course accepted the opportunity but had some serious work ahead of me to come up with a range of flat shoes that would in fact fill a void in my own shoe life with the in between a heel and a casual sneaker vibe - The dressy Flat.

It all started and ended in Italy with the La Baccarina makers sending swatches, samples and can and can't do on ideas put on the table. The distance made for longer time lines but I would take it for the hand made Italian leather that were going to be the essence of the collection. Quality over quantity. A boutique collection of 7 in limited numbers.

In the world of fashion we are all making our own way around, picking out the sections we like and defining a certain style that you are most drawn too. [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]With all of the outlets we have to explore it and the volume of options it proved quite challenging to drown out the noise and design something that reflected styles I already loved and be 'on trend' whilst being original at the same time. I decided early on that they were going to be simple with the focus on the craftsmanship and materials rather than trying to develop something outside the box just to be innovative. At the end of the day I wanted everyone to be able to wear them in style and be worked into their already classic and simple wardrobes.

The line up - made mostly of points needed plenty of black, texture and of course animal print as there in no where better to have some animal print than in your accessories. Quilted inners with gold details. All seemingly easy decisions - not really and especially when there are a hundred others to make to get you to the end game.Thinking about shoes all the time, researching and making the perfect pair from of one of the best Italian shoes manufacturers - Its a tough job but someone had to it! It was challenging and I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to do so. I hope you loved them as much as I do.

On that note if you haven't already got a pair we are having a flash sale until tomorrow night with the code LSSFLASH15 for 15% off the collection. We sold out of Nero multi straps and the Animale (yay!) but the pre order for the final drop is up and ready to roll. [/twocol_one_last] mak

THE SIGNATURE SCENT

bbb

[twocol_one]Apparently you are suppose to have locked down your signature fragrance by the time you are 30 but I am not sure thats possible with all of the choices one faces on a daily basis. I got my first 'real' fragrance from my Grandma when I was in grade school. It was Tommy Girl. Fittingly the all American girls scent from my American Grandma. A bit of a step up from the Impulse aerosol which was kept tight along side my collection of Lip Smackers - Strawberry Kiwi Comet my lippy of choice. I was the first of my friends to have a perfume which was very fancy of me and every sleep over and movie date it was in the handbag so we all smelt equally as fabulous.

Our senses bring back memories had when smelling or listening to certain songs and fragrance has a powerful way of reminiscing on times had with that scent so I guess its important to link good times with a scent. I am also reminded of my loved ones and know their signature fragrance as well. My mum - Chanel no19 and Opium, my Grandma - Oscar by Oscar DeLa Renta. Unfortunately for my best friend Beyonce's fragrance and Brittany Spears 'Curious' remind me of her because she got 4 bottles of them for her 21st and made good use of it. Her 'Grown up' Scent would be Flowerbomb.

[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]

My signature scent I think my loves would say would be Stella as its been on repeat over the years and reminds me of a lot of great times so when its time for a new fragrance she seems to be the one. Other notes would be -  First memories of dating Nick and at the same scent time was graduating high school - Ralph Lauren Romance. Going out (a lot) when we turned 18 - Issey Miyake. Wedding Day - Miss Dior . Having my babies would be Stella.

With all this noted I am  very open to new comers and I do like to mix it up as well. I have two on rotation at the moment - Balmain, and the new B Balenciaga. Obviously feeling the B love.

I finally tried out the much talked about range by Miss Bingle and I am quite impressed. I gave the LB cream a whirl and its a great primer and glow for the base of makeup. I went the darker shade which if we are talking about reminiscing reminds me of the days I used to use Revlon Skinlights when our days were made up of planing the weekends festivities, getting a tan and when fulfilling the weekends festivities, being as brown and glowing as we possibly could. This will not make you a reflective Oompa Loompa but it will smooth you out and look hydrated - a win.

BEAUTY: CARE FOR YOUR HAIR

gl

[twocol_one]A lot of the time we want something we don't or can't have especially when it comes to hair. I love when a celeb or these days a girl on instagram pops up with an amazing color and/or cut and hairdressers everywhere know that they will see this image roll around client after client wanting 'the Rachael' , 'The Victorias Secret' and scarily 'The Kim/Leto/Draco'.  Sometimes it works if you have the looks to go with your thick beautiful hair which by most part in reality is probably full of extensions anyway.... which I might add in my opinion the way to roll if need be. On this note I will confess to hair mistakes I have made in the past one of which the hairdresser bleached my hair and it broke off, yes I stuffed it up royally leaving me with no choice but to go dark to pretend there was an inch of health to it and it was then I began my years of hair extensions. Now before I digress too much and start having nightmares about the experience we are talking hair health not death here. [/twocol_one] Enter my hair lover Angie (body haircutters).[twocol_one_last]'Hair health is a process and if you stick to a regime you will notice a difference in the overall texture and growth of your hair. Its so important to understand what type of hair you have before you pick images of what you are after. It can be done but is it the right option? There is no point in trying to be platinum blonde if you have dark fine hair but you can lift the ends or make another way there'.

After all is done I think there is nothing better than healthy hair as a base to whichever cut and color you after after. If you look after your hair it wants to look after you. You will have more chances to change it up and when you want her to be curly, straight or whatever blows it back she won't frizz and break under the pressure.  [/twocol_one_last]

[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]Being drawn to what you can't have and the saying reins true of wanting just that. I am a serial fake tanner, instant fake tan is my vice (I will actually do a post of my lovers) as the smell kills me. In an unfortunate case for me my skin likes the sun and is at its best with a golden tone laying on top thus maintenance is on the higher side. On the flip, meet Gemma. Flawless skin totally untouched and a canvas you dream of. Living vicariously through others on the Fashion Week world tour inspiration is pumping and the beauty of A/W is coming at us.Blank canvas to work her magic - Jade meets Preen.

I must mention my state of being M.I. A on the fashion front. Summer gets me in a mood when it comes to clothing and my sea of black and knit materials staring back at me every time I go to get dressed makes for slightly un eventful sessions. I have a loud whip cracking behind me so I will be providing soon. Also I lost one of my limbs a few days ago....my laptop finally got sorted out. Her rainbow wheel attitude was to much to deal with on a daily basis. She did good but out with the old.

Whilst studying aka reading fashion bibles I came across an article in this months Elle Australia about being late and that its basically a legitimate disorder which I happen to believe I have. Could it be true? Or could it be my two little humans or the fact that every single time I leave the house half my wardrobe is laying on the ground because I didn't plan what to wear? I am sure there is something to blame other than my time management skills. Surely.

Testing a few things in this shoot in my photo master class as such with an aim to try out a bit of this and a bit of that before I settle on my favourite. Nice to shake it up.

OFF THE GRID

Melbourne is the city of events, Big events like notable moments – Spring Racing Carnival, AFL Grand Final, The Grand Prix….. the list goes on. As we have passed a few by and need to kick the year off we do it with style at the Grand Prix. With all of these fab events there are always pretty faces to front the advertising, promotion and set the tone for the event ahead. Imagine a pretty face matched with a kick ass personality – Enter Elyse Knowles. Matching her beach babe chilled image she is just an all round cool human. As the GP Ambassador welcoming international guests to one of Melbourne’s biggest events we are in safe hands that Elyse is reppin our city.

My bestie and I tripped Europe a few years ago and had to fit in Monaco but in the off season and race cars and the rich and famous were not flooding the streets. I am not privy to the world of Race cars as my car knowledge is color and brand specific but I do love a party and something that brings the city alive I am down for that.

Not a hard task to shoot this girl. While getting prepped she tells us she can skate a little and probably would have put the guys that were peacocking around us to shame. In their defence I am sure the ramps are not often full of chicks getting changed and posing amongst the tags. They could shortly after look her up on The Gram and see more of this babe….. joining a few others following too.

Working out the wardrobe situation is of course important but we can't discount having the right bedroom style. It's funny that this is most always reflective of whats inside the closet doors or in my case hanging on the freestanding racks full of white, black, denim, grey and camel. Call me a creature of habit or lets just call it consistency. I know what I like!

With the color pallette locked down I do like to add a little something called stripes (such a rebel) but not the french riviera type as I have been there done that and prefer to leave that on Instagram. I have moved to the simplicity of a pinstripe which I naturally need to flow into my decor. Look out The Block hey?! Fashion interior styling 101 over here! To bring my stripes from the web inspo pages to our bedroom Target came to the party and ticked my boxes. The denim blue colouring and as a girl loves a bit of choice mixed stripes on the flip side to change it up. As I am all about the textures and details to create interest the neutrals and wood were good options for the change up from my usual black and white. The way I see it is you have your black skinny leg jeans but the blue denim and camel trench look is very close by. The slight change in style makes the change on washing day a little more interesting.

Of course I can't just leave things as they are suppose to be I love a picture frame as a tray. Not only for a great picture with the glass bottom on top of Vogue but the frame in wood, white or even black is an easy tie in for the feel of the room.

INSTAGRAM : ROUND UP

gram

What happened in the world of Instagram the past two weeks? Half of what has happened in the actual real time life it seems as I load the images on the post. We launched a show Collaboration and I patted myself on the back for finally chasing a dream to become a better photographer and there is plenty of learning and perfecting to come. It seems I have found myself a secret weapon…. well more so I have locked him in to be my secret weapon and I am not letting him go any time soon. A personal tutor and absolute genius that happens to share my creative blood, literally (thats for you secret weapon as I know how much you love that phrase!).

So with shoes to sell and be super proud of we move to another pressing issue of fashion for winter - bring that right on. I was invited to a styling night at Westfield Doncaster to reinrertae my love for leather and that Norm Core is happening and that I can go about being my less is more, simplistic, on the causal side self for another season (and many more to come). Myer launched A/W15 in impeccable style as always and I have decided that a certain Sass & Bide number must be mine to layer over pants which I must add is also happening and I like it. Did I mention the number in question is bright green?( If I comes in black I will be closer to a lock in).

On the home front I spend my days juggling this life and the lives of my two great loves, my babies. I have decided that I might start posting on the gram the images I take of them (mostly Milla as Archie doesn't dress up nor stay still for longer than a second). We test light, play in dress ups and I can create and story board things I have in mind for other shoots. This is the year to up the anti so every area must be improved so I may share our mini Voguette on a few occasions. We will see how we go.

I know you have seen my rather detailed travel guide (if not here she is) and every day since I have been thinking of the next guide to be made…. after part two of course. Europe may be on the agenda this year and I best be doing Melbourne soon too considering I live here. Maybe a tour of the cafe's?

[twocol_one]Catching my breath after last week... just and onto the next. While girls are jetting off to NYC we are here planning fashion weeks on home soil and trips in slightly warmer temps later in the year. All though NYFW is on the bucket list I must weigh up the situation we have in place for a once a year trip with minus temps making things a little less inviting. Its probably too crowded that time of year anyway (keep telling yourself this).  On the NYC note I will make adjustments to my Travel Guide as already since the end of Jan two long running eateries have closed, which is going to happen but I will keep onto of it and add in newbies and say goodbye to others.

Back to topic and the point of this post - On the home front on a hot Tuesday a long time lover of mine joined me for an improntu shoot so we could test some new tricks I have been learning. My pommy friend Miss Licuria is one of those humans that has flair. I like to think I am funny and have a bit of sass when I need too but there is something about an English sense of humour much like an unedited instagram picture it is what it is and doesn't need anything fancy put on top, natural and what you see is what you get. I like what I get! [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]We are so not talking sports luxe anymore and have heard Normcore being thrown around a bit of late which is funny as a friend of mine who is about as interested in 'the fashion world' as I am in parliament and all of a sudden the way we have been dressing everyday is now a trend. What can you say to that? I say do what you do, wear what you want and I am sure in some way you will be on trend.

With this trend and the shoot with this babe I am very inclined to mix sports with business as I will never say no to a more relaxed type of dress code. My sportswear needs an update to match our (Jordy) 'we love to exercise' mantra which I am on my way with our super trainer that I am going to introduce you too soon - Melbourne ladies get on board!. I may or may not add a pair of Nikes to my cart by the end of this post over on tab number 6 while my credit card processes a sweatshirt to make my normcore sisters smile over on tab 3. My name is Erin Maxwell and I am an online shop-o-holic……..slash researcher.  [/twocol_one_last]
